Synopsis:
Back in 1992, a team of engineers and scientists led by Jean Kerisel conducted a number of non-destructive methods to survey the area around the subterranean chamber and descending passageway of the Great Pyramid.
The team were looking for scientific evidence for canals or water in the lower reaches of the Great Pyramid, because of how Herodotus describes the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, being on a kind of island surrounded by water.
Amazingly the team did discover both a cavity and a 5 metre deep pit, both situated around the recess in the horizontal section of the descending passageway, just before entering the subterranean chamber.
On top of the geophysics, there is also some circumstantial evidence to say that there is a secret chamber, possibly an elusive burial chamber, below the Great Pyramid.
